The Training Programme

On our Graduate Training Programme, you'll need to work hard to reap the rewards. Because you'll be in at the deep end from day one, driving your own development and making real impact. But, if you've got the ambition and are prepared to work hard, you could realistically be responsible for a £40 million business just five years after joining the scheme. And that's no empty promise….



Our Training Programme is designed to give you a detailed knowledge of how our business operates, to secure the foundations on which you can build a solid career and to allow you to achieve your full potential as soon as possible. It's definitely not for the faint-hearted, and our strict selection process is designed to identify the people most likely to stay the course.

If you make it through, following your Head Office Induction and Orientation sessions, you'll be straight out on the shop floor showing us what you're made of. As you gain experience in each different department - more than likely moving around stores as you do - you'll go out of your way to learn as much as you can and impress us at every opportunity with your initiative and understanding of our business. Within 12 months we'll expect you to be running your own department with a sales turnover of around £5 million per year. And just to pile on the pressure, you'll also have projects to work on, which could mean spending some time in Head Office or continuing to impress us in-store. After 3 years, you should be ready for a Assistant General Manager role, earning £35k with a company car, or perhaps you'll have decided to continue your career in another direction like Buying or Marketing. Whichever, you'll need to be ready for some serious responsibility from day one. Throughout your training you'll have regular reviews and make presentations on your progress, and you'll receive on-going feedback in both formal and informal situations.

But we can't say it enough, it'll be up to you to push yourself further every day if you want to make the progress that'll make the most of your talents.
